## Querying This Documentation
This site has an agentic ask interface you may use to query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://guides.upland.me/getting-started/index.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

# What is Upland?

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTzd5ncyluM&utm_source=landing_pages>" %}

### What is Upland?

Upland is a **persistent, real‑world city‑builder** game on a shared map that never resets. You strategize where to play, acquire and develop virtual properties tied to real addresses, and trade directly with other players. Your progress sticks—what you build stays until you sell or redevelop.

***

### Why is it different?

* **Shared map, real places.** Everyone plays on the same living map based on the real world; neighborhoods evolve because players build them.
* **Player‑driven economy.** Powered by blockchain technology, virtual properties, cars/karts, décor, map assets, fan collectibles, and player-created items can be traded peer‑to‑peer, and where eligible, may be sold for USD.&#x20;
* **Progress that lasts.** No seasonal wipes. Strategies compound over time as districts grow and communities organize. Your forever game.
* **Accessible depth.** Start fast on mobile or web (no wallet required to begin). Go deeper with completing collections, property trading, shops, city planning, and live events.

***

### What you can do

* **Plan.** Time new city openings, pick promising neighborhoods, optimize collections.
* **Build.** Construct homes, showrooms, and shops, residential and service structures; shape a district’s look and performance.
* **Trade.** Buy/sell virtual properties and items in live player marketplaces.
* **Compete.** Join challenges, car races, design contests, and climb leaderboards.
* **Create.** Design buildings, décor, signage, and experiences that define your area’s identity.
* **Entrepreneurship.** Launch player‑run shops (Metaventures), provide services, manage logistics, and scale using in‑game resources like **UPX** and **Sparklet**.

***

### How it feels to play

Upland blends the satisfaction of city‑building with the energy of a live economy. Travel takes time, supply chains matter, and collaboration wins. Factories consume resources (e.g., **Sparklet**) to manufacture items that must be transported and sold through player storefronts. Go solo or coordinate with neighbors to deliver bigger projects faster.

***

### Community at the core

Players co‑author Upland’s world—organizing district builds, publishing guides/media, running events, and welcoming newcomers. Many stay for the social fabric as much as the gameplay. Your city becomes a place you help lead.

***

### A trading game

Advance from Visitor to **Uplander** status to keep your digital assets and currencies (**UPX** and **Sparklet**). For players with Upland status level and above, items may be swapped or traded for in-game currency UPX or USD, where eligible, in accordance with platform rules. \
*Note: Digital ownership refers to in‑game tokens only.*

***

### Quick Start (5 steps)

1. **Create your account** (email is enough, see also the next section).
2. **Pick a city & neighborhood** to start your portfolio.
3. **Complete collections** and beginner tasks for momentum.
4. **Join your local community** (in‑game chat & Discord) to find opportunities.
5. **Set a goal:** flip properties, develop a block, open a shop, or chase event rewards.

**Pro tip:** Start small, learn prices, and put rewards back into your focus area.

***

### Ideas for next steps: Choose your first goal

* **District Builder:** Acquires adjacent properties, coordinates builds, and sets a theme/design.
* **Marketplace Trader:** Hunts undervalued assets, arbitrages city openings, masters collections.
* **Metaventure Owner:** Opens a showroom, sources submerchants, markets to locals or on a global scale.
* **Event Competitor:** Specializes in racing, designs contests, and seasonal challenges.
* **Manufacturer/Logistics:** Produces assets; manages Sparklet, transport, and delivery (to Metaventures).

# Account Setup

In Upland, time roaming the virtual streets = time well spent! Well Done! That’s why we’ve made our sign-up process super simple and quick.&#x20;

Upland can be accessed on mobile devices or from browsers. To start collecting digital properties, all you need is an email address. That’s it! There’s no need to set up a crypto wallet. Upland’s innovative onboarding system automatically creates a blockchain account for you once you’ve acquired enough assets in the game and become a full-fledged Uplander.

Alternatively, you could explore as a guest without setting up an account. However, the experience is limited to looking around the map. Setting up an account takes minutes, and then you can jump into the fun!

**Installation and Account Setup**

1. Install Upland on your [iOS](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/upland-city-builder/id1457175587) or [Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.upland.app\&hl=en_US) device. Or, access Upland in your browser at [play.upland.me](https://play.upland.me/).
2. Sign up for an account with an email address.
3. Follow account verification.
4. Jump in!

At this point, you can explore Upland as a Visitor.

**Securing Your Account with 2FA**

Account security is incredibly important for securing your Upland assets due to their real-world value. We highly recommend enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your account.

‍

**To enable 2FA:**

1. Got to Settings in the Quick Menu.
2. Click "Authentication."
3. There are two types of authentication: SMS (secure), and Google Authentication (very secure)
4. SMS Authentication enables a security setting in which a passcode is sent to your mobile phone whenever you transact in Upland.
5. Google Authentication secures your account by listing a refreshing code needed whenever you want to make a transaction.
6. Scan the given QR code to add Upland as an account on Google Authenticator.
7. Enter the Upland code to verify your account.

‍Enabling 2FA protects your account from dictionary attacks, where your information on other websites may be exposed. It's highly recommended to secure your account with the best tools available to ensure the safety of your Upland assets.

**KYC Identity Verification**

KYC promotes fair play by requiring players to prove their identity. KYC is needed for various activities, including:

* Competitive Treasure Hunts (Exclusive+ Tier)
* Competitive Spark Treasures
* Spark login bonus
* Spark rewards

KYC checks reduce the amount of Spark or UPX rewards doled out to bad actors. This helps level the playing field and strengthens the economy through a healthier distribution of UPX and Spark. ‍

Fortunately, completing a KYC check is a straightforward process that you can initiate in the Upland app. All players need to do is:

1. Go to the Quick Menu in the app.
2. Open the Settings menu.
3. Click on Verify Your Identity and follow the steps.

**Note:** KYC can take a few days to complete with our partner, Tilia. You will be asked to share personal information in order to verify your identity.

# Game Tips

There's a lot going on in Upland. Here, we share some tips to get newer players off to a good start. These tips are in no particular order, and there are many other guides out there to boost your experience. Feel free to check out guides from top players on YouTube, Telegram, Discord, Reddit, X, and in one of the many channels they broadcast to.

## Connect With The Community

The key to success in Upland is connecting with the community. Active players progress faster and enjoy a richer experience. While solo play is an option, the vibrant Upland community offers support, creativity, and fun! Join the in-game chat,[ Discord](https://discord.com/invite/upland), or [Reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/UplandMe/) to get involved and make the most of your journey.<br>

## Use Your Free UPX Wisely

In Upland, your first property is free! Use the UPX given to you to acquire an unowned Fair Start Act (FSA) parcel (i.e., the gray-colored FSA parcel), and you're off and running!

![](https://guides.upland.me/~gitbook/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcontent.gitbook.com%2Fcontent%2FpviSnYRR3vUmecm1ULpg%2Fblobs%2Fs2zkk6EzGUBBKbha09ds%2Ffsa.jpg\&width=300\&dpr=4\&quality=100\&sign=6bf90746\&sv=1)

## Free Sends

Always be on the lookout for paper airplanes around the map. These are free Sends. Sends are the only way to move Block Explorers to a specific location (within its discovery range).

Sends are needed for activities such as Treasure Hunts and city tours. Each day players will receive three additional sends and can hold a maximum of 11 sends. Stock up and replenish to keep moving!

![](https://guides.upland.me/~gitbook/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcontent.gitbook.com%2Fcontent%2FpviSnYRR3vUmecm1ULpg%2Fblobs%2Fz6fS0ZU3T0M0HDdtd9xR%2FSends%2520ui.jpg\&width=300\&dpr=4\&quality=100\&sign=c17faecd\&sv=1)

## Locate Your Block Explorer

If you take your eye off the screen, you may lose your Block Explorer! Block Explorers are always on the move without player input. If you can't find your Block Explorer, simply press the Pawn icon, and you will automatically jump to your Block Explorer's location.

![](https://guides.upland.me/~gitbook/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcontent.gitbook.com%2Fcontent%2FpviSnYRR3vUmecm1ULpg%2Fblobs%2FqIrm6VqNzNY2h25oocOq%2Fpawn%2520icon%2520ui.jpg\&width=300\&dpr=4\&quality=100\&sign=5a37962e\&sv=1)

## Camera Controls

Feel free to move the camera from the top-down position. To do this, you can tilt the camera by holding Shift + Arrow key. You can also rotate the camera with a right-click and drag.

## Increase Your UPX Earnings

Properties come with passive UPX yield players can add to their wallet. However, the savviest players boost these property yields by completing Collections. Property Collections are listed in the player Profile. We highlight some of the easier Collections below.

![](https://guides.upland.me/~gitbook/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcontent.gitbook.com%2Fcontent%2FpviSnYRR3vUmecm1ULpg%2Fblobs%2F7WBZQ2LOT4AFBKBktRTm%2Fcollections%2520ui.jpg\&width=300\&dpr=4\&quality=100\&sign=4a3d1100\&sv=1)

* Newbie: Own any one property in Upland.
* City Pro: Own five properties in the same city.
* King of the Street: Own three properties on the same street.

Take a look at the Collections in each city and plan your property acquisitions for more opportunities.

## Join Activities

Some activities are really easy to join and can be rewarding. For example, players who complete a city tour (which are only available after a city first opens), earn free Spark *and* recuperate 100% of their registration fee.

Treasure Hunts are also good activities as players can earn - with a bit of luck - the cost of the Sends and more spent finding treasures.

## Location, Location, Location

When acquiring properties, look for locations that might be advantageous. For example, when someone uses a Send to travel to your address, you earn a little free UPX. This makes properties around "hot" locations (e.g., stadiums, City Halls, Terminals, etc.) good spots to plant a flag if you can.

And if your property doesn't have anything interesting around it, build Structures, decorate with Structure Ornaments or Outdoor Decor, and launch a Metaventure to make it interesting attraction! It's up to you!

# Leveling up

## Visitor Status

Everyone starts as a Visitor. Explore Upland and use your UPX to buy FSA Properties. Until you level up, you won’t be eligible for certain activities that require KYC identity verification (e.g., Competitive and Sparklet Tier Treasure Hunts, car racing, marketplace transactions, etc.).<br>

## Digital Ownership

As an Upland Visitor, you are a few steps away from enjoying true and permanent ownership of any collected digital asset. The items and properties you acquire as a Visitor will be permanently tied to your account when you level up to an Uplander.

## Your Upland Visa

On your journey to becoming an Uplander, you will need to renew your Upland visa at least once every seven days to maintain ownership of your accumulated assets. There is no limit to how many times you can renew your visa. If you lose your visa, unfortunately, you will lose the assets in your wallet (properties, UPX, etc.). However, the account created with your email address will still be in the database if you want to re-open your account.

**Note:** Restoring an account does not restore assets, but you will get an UPX welcome back bonus to make your restart easier.\
\
**Marketplace Participation**

As long as you are a Visitor, you cannot trade in the marketplace with other players.

## Uplander&#x20;

Once you’ve accumulated a total net worth of 10,000 UPX, you’re eligible for Uplander status. Net worth includes the combination of your UPX balance and purchased properties.

**True Ownership**

Becoming an Uplander is like getting a citizenship card for the Upland metaverse. The big benefit is that Uplanders enjoy ownership of their digital assets. As an Uplander, everything in your Upland wallet is permanently tied to your account, including properties, UPX, Sparklet, etc.&#x20;

**Marketplace Participation**

Uplanders are free to trade assets with other players in the open marketplace for both UPX and US Dollars (subject to KYC). See what deals you can score!

**Uplander Perks**

As an Uplander, the world opens up to you! Customize your profile with more Block Explorers than Visitors. Build residential or commercial structures on properties. Decorate properties with map assets to personalize your spaces. Collect Block Explorers, Legit collectibles, and other items. You can also vote (after KYC Identity Verification) to help shape your neighborhoods and beyond!

**Security**

When leveling up to Uplander, you automatically receive an account on Upland's blockchain dedicated to managing your Upland assets. You can see this by clicking the “View Uplander Status” button and then clicking your unique account number.

**Tip**

Pros no longer have access to FSA properties, so make use of them while you’re an Uplander. Complete KYC Identity Verification to be eligible for better Treasure Hunting rewards, voting, and more. There’s a bonus Sparklet reward when you level up to Uplander during a Sparklet Week’s Status-Up rewards! Take advantage if you can to boost your Sparklet stash.

## Pro&#x20;

Once you’ve accumulated a total net worth of 100,000 UPX, you will be eligible for Pro status. Net worth includes the combination of your UPX balance and purchased properties.

**Pro Perks**

As a Pro player, you have access to more exclusive Block Explorers to personalize your experience further. This is the perfect way to show off your growing reputation!

**Tip**

Consider “deeper” experiences, such as a Metaventure shop, factory manufacturing, or car racing, to up your game! Also, you may be eligible for a greater Sparklet reward when you level up to Pro, especially if there’s an active level-up promotion, such as the Status-Up reward,s during a Sparklet Week.

# Glossary

**3D Avatars:** 3D Avatars are full character models built inside Upland to be used in 3D experiences developed for Upland or connected third-party experiences. The character-creation tools is powered by the avatar platform Ready Player Me.

**Alcatraz:** Is a small island located in Upland North of San Francisco. It is designated as a site for players who violate Upland's rules, such as engaging in multi-accounting. These players are marked with a "J" to indicate their status as a player in “Jail.” A typical violation is multi-accounting of a player. See Upland's current terms here: <https://upland.me/documents/Terms-of-Service-Feb-4-2024.pdf>

**Blockchain Gaming:** Games that use blockchain technology have an immutable, traceable data-storage network behind in-game transactions. This is crucial in ensuring players purchase and earn authentic digital items (e.g., fungible and non-fungible tokens). Upland is a city-builder using a dedicated appchain.

**Block Explorer:** A Block Explorer is the player character from the city or globe view inside Upland. Block Explorers wander cities randomly. Their paths cannot be directly controlled (unless you use a "Send"), and you will find that getting to the correct location will sometimes be part of the challenge!

**Block Explorer Trail:** Is a marker that shows the directional path from the last visited places of your Block Explorer. It is a grey track behind the Block Explorer.

**Community Dev Tools:** Community Dev Tools represent the APIs and tools for third-party developers and content creators to connect their IP to the Upland ecosystem. Third-party experiences brought to Upland are typically accessed through “Dev Shops” (seen as purple pips inside Upland).

**Challenges:** In-game events/activities players can participate in to win UPX and other rewards.

**Collections:** Collections are groups of Upland assets that, when combined, complete the “theme” of a Collection. Collections exist for Upland properties and Legits. Players put properties into Collections to boost the yield of those items. A property Collection increases UPX yield of those items (and usually provides a one-time UPX bonus). Yield for Legits typically applies to leaderboard and challenge scores for bonuses and unique challenge rewards.

**Crypto Exchanges:** These are centralized marketplaces ("CEX") to buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrency and some crypto tokens. Examples include Crypto.com, Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken. There are also decentralized exchanges ("DEX") such as Uniswap.

**Crypto Wallet:** Wallets are secured software platforms that store a person’s crypto assets. A Wallet could be for a specific environment, such as an Upland Wallet via its smart client. Or, a Wallet could be its own platform (e.g., MetaMask) that may connect to other applications.

**Dev Shop:** Dev Shops in Upland mark locations where players can access third-party content connected to the Upland ecosystem via Community Dev Tools. A Dev Shop is marked on the map as a purple pip. Typically, players must go to a Dev Shop and authorize a third party to access their Upland information before launching their content.

**Discovery Range:** Every Block Explorer has a “discovery range” representing the furthest point a Block Explorer can access from its position. Because Block Explorers are constantly moving on a map, the discovery range moves too. To interact with certain properties, the Block Explorer needs to be in discovery range.

**Blockchain Technology:** Upland operates on a dedicated Appchain.

**Existing Mints:** The number of mints that remain on the blockchain for a specific NFT. This number changes when other mints are burned or merged.

**FSA (Fair Start Act):** FSA was implemented to reserve a percentage of properties for new players with a net worth below 100,000 UPX. The quantity of FSA property in a city is determined by a city’s tier.

**Fiat Money:** Describes a currency that is used as a medium of exchange and most often regulated by a government (e.g., the U.S. dollar). Upland has an NFT-to-USD program where players can sell items in Upland for fiat.

**Genesis Week:** Genesis Week marks the celebration of the first-ever minted property in Upland. There’s typically a celebration the first week of June for the occasion.

**KYC (Know Your Customer):** This is an identity verification process that helps keep Upland safe and secure. Players can access KYC identity verification from their user Profile. Many features in Upland require KYC.

**Landmarks:** Landmarks in Upland are special locations that make each city unique. There’s a plan to have a unique structure for each Landmark, giving a distinct look and vibe to the property, city, and neighborhood … just like in real life.

**Legits:** These are collectibles unique to Upland that players permanently own. Legits can be for partner-based items (e.g., NFLPA, FIFA World Cup, etc.) or other projects. The family of Legits includes Essentials, Mementos, Spotlights, and more.

**Legit** **Essentials:** These are part of the Upland Legits family. These 3D digital assets are not limited by quantity but by time and/or seasons. For example, a set of NFLPA Essentials may only be available for a 2021 season. Essentials are more common digital assets that can be used to complete Legit Collections.

**Legit Replicas:** Replicas are digital assets that can be replicated by merging (or “burning”) Legit Essentials. Replicas of mementos are essentially copies of mementos and are generally less valuable than the original memento.

**Metaventure:** Metaventures are commercial ventures launched by players in the Upland metaverse. Supported by a robust economic model, they allow metaverse entrepreneurs to shape a new economy. Some types of Metaventures include:

* Shops: Where players can buy legits and mementos. Examples: Football Fan Shops and NFLPA Fan Shops.
* Factories: Where players fabricate items such as Outdoor Decor and Structure Ornaments
* Showrooms: Where players sell fabricated items from Factories

**Mementos:** Mementos are rare, unique Legits (always 1-of-1) that typically commemorate real-world events. These digital assets are typically integrated with unique data from an event (such as an athlete’s stats from a match). Mementos are rarer than Legit Essentials, thus they are more valuable. Also, Mementos are great items for Collections.

**Mint/Mint Number:** The sequential number assigned when an NFT is minted. This number will not change when other mints are burned or merged. (Ex. “1 of 1”)

**Minting:** An event that certifies a digital asset on the blockchain to turn it into a non-fungible token (NFT). In Upland, players mint Block Explorers, properties, Legits, cars, Structure Ornaments, Outdoor Decor, and other items.

**MV Motors:** MV Motors is Upland's native car brand. There are various models, including the Series 1, Series 2, Series 4, Series T, Series V, Series S, etc. Many models also have different “trims,” which may alter the appearance and performance of the vehicle.

**NFT (Non-Fungible-Token):** An NFT is a digital asset that is unique and singular, backed by blockchain technology to ensure authenticity and ownership. An NFT can be bought, sold, traded, or collected. Virtually anything can be an NFT, such as properties, avatars, Legits, and much more!

**Node:** These are neighborhood communities in Upland. Node boundaries are based on neighborhoods in real cities. You can use the community directory to find a node (or start your own node anywhere in Upland). There is no formal process for creating a node. All it takes is a few people working together who are willing to be a part of a neighborhood.

**Outdoor Decor:** These are decorative items (e.g., Statues, Tiles, Gnomes, Canvases) that can be placed on a property that players own. Outdoor Decor is mainly cosmetic items used for personalizing properties. Some are won from contests and serve as rare, valuable trophies.

**Racing:** Players can use their cars to race each other (or bots) in Upland races. There is an app, the Upland Racing app, that is needed to join races. Players may also spectate races if desired.

**Resident Score:** It runs behind the scenes today and ranks neighborhoods by how well they support residents (Uppies).

**Riot Mode:** Riot Mode creates additional incentives for players to participate in Treasure Hunts by augmenting their rewards when many players are actively hunting.

**Swaps:** This is an item-to-item trade between two players.

**Sends:** Sends are a resource used to move your Block Explorer to a specific destination. As your Block Explorer roams randomly, you do not need to be in discovery range to use a send, but the property must be minted. Players do have a limited number of Sends, but can collect Sends by going to the paper airplanes scattered on the map.

**Sparklet:** Sparklet is the currency that powers the development of 3D objects that manifest on the map. This includes Structures, Structure Ornaments, and Outdoor Decor. Sparklet can be earned by leveling up your Upland status, winning in-game challenges, and participating in certain Treasure Hunts. Sparklet is also available for purchase in the Upland Store during certain times and on external exchanges.

**Spotlight Mementos:** Spotlights are rare Upland collectibles that are video-based media. These are highly rare and unique collectibles.

**Structure Ornaments:** Structure Ornaments are essentially skins for Upland Structures (residential houses or buildings) that bring unique customization to a property. Structure Ornaments are mostly used in specific periods, such as a holiday or season. However, Structure Ornaments remain in a player’s wallet and can be used in their applicable season or occasion.

**Terminals:** Terminals are travel hubs. There are train stations as well as domestic and international airports. Terminals are special properties owned by players and allow people to travel between cities. Terminals are marked on the map with special icons (e.g., trains, buses, and airplanes).

**Thunes (formerly Tilia Pay):** Is a service of Thunes Financial Services LLC - an Upland partner - and is used in Upland for its NFT-to-USD program. More information: <https://www.thunes.com/>

**Total Mints:** The total amount of each Legit that has been minted on the blockchain.

**Treasure Hunts:** A treasure hunt is a minigame that invites players to search for hidden treasure. In a hunt, players follow arrow markers that lead them in the direction of a reward.

**Treasure Tier:** Treasure tiers are assigned based on the makeup of each city and correspond with the min, max, and default send fees of each city. Treasure Tier rewards are adjusted to compensate for changes in send fees. Some cities with a higher treasure tier may offer more substantial rewards. There is also a “Sparked Up” Treasure Tier during Sparklet week which may drop a Sparklet reward in treasure chests.

**Treasure Rush:** Treasure Rush is a Standard Hunting mode where Uplanders are challenged to spawn and collect as many treasures as possible in the 30 minute period; no sends will be consumed while hunting. The more Treasures you find, the higher you will place on each City’s leaderboard.

**Uppies:** They are Upland’s digital residents. They bring neighborhoods to life, make your city-building choices matter, and respond to how well an area is developed, connected, and serviced.

**UPX (pronounced UP-EX):** UPX is Upland’s fungible token. It's used to acquire in-game purchases of goods and services. UPX offers players the freedom to buy, sell and trade properties using a peer-to-peer trustless method of exchange. UPX is not currently tradable outside of the game and is implemented as a utility (medium of exchange) token, derived from the blockchain token system contract.

**Unminted Property:** In Upland, all properties that have not yet been bought by anyone are called unminted properties.

**Upland Status:** A player’s Upland Status represents the level the player has reached. Many statuses include bonuses. Here are the Statuses in order:

* Visitor
* Uplander
* Pro
* Director
* Executive
* Chief Executive
* Vice Chair
* Chair

**Upland Voting:** Upland has a voting mechanism that allows players to contribute to a range of decisions across the ecosystem. The voting tool is found on the Profile page. Voting requires KYC identity verification and a Upland Home Address.

**UPX Earnings:** Earnings in Upland represent the amount of passive UPX a player earns from their properties. For example, players earn a small amount of UPX for each property in their portfolio. These earnings may be increased by completing collections. Properties are the only asset bearing earnings.

**Vanilla Mode:** Vanilla Mode refers to a method in which Upland cities may launch. Collection details for cities that are released in Vanilla Mode are minted to the blockchain prior to the release to ensure provable fairness for all players. In other words, there are no Collections at launch for cities released in Vanilla mode. This means that players can speculate on what properties might be included in collections prior to their official reveal.

**Visa:** A visa in Upland is a pass for players with visitor status that grants them limited access to Upland and must be renewed at least once a week. With an active visa, Visitors may explore Upland and acquire assets to level up to Uplander status. Once reaching the latter, players trade in their visa for permanent residency!

To protect the rights of all players, we submit the following constitutional “guidelines.”

#### Economic Principles

Upland is establishing a “real economy” sustained by players through market forces of supply and demand. Upland’s community pool partially supports these market forces by subsidizing certain economic activities of stakeholders. The collection of fees from market transactions or the earning of yield from owning a property are examples of these forces at work.

Players' attempts to exploit certain mechanics may prompt Upland operators to intervene, as described below. The following guidelines are expected to be followed by ALL players in Upland.

Players who violate these guidelines will be subject to imprisonment in Alcatraz, the prison island in the San Francisco Bay. Duration of imprisonment, fines, and sanctioning of certain activities are at the sole discretion of the Upland operating team.

***

#### Article I: Asset Funneling

Properties consistently sold to another account at an under- or over-market price may be flagged as asset funneling. This activity is damaging to the health of the Upland economy and is a severe violation. If suspected of asset funneling, players will be investigated and could face jail time and fines in Alcatraz.

#### Article II: Collusion & the Expectation of “Fair” Market Pricing

Players are expected to sell properties for realistic market valuations. Properties intentionally sold at severely under- or over-mint prices may be flagged for suspicious activity. Using the sale of properties to move large amounts of UPX is a direct violation of this rule.

Players are permitted to sell properties over or under mint prices; however, clear abuse of this mechanism will result in jail time and possibly a fine. Suspicious use of the Property Swap mechanism could be considered collusion—or asset funneling—if said swaps are harmful to the Upland economy. Players flagged for suspicious swapping will be investigated.

#### Article III: Multi Accounting

Players can maintain only a single account per person in the Upland Parallel World. Those operating multiple accounts in Upland will face a jail sentence, which may be accompanied by a fine. Multi-accounting is damaging to the Upland economy and puts other players’ assets at risk.

#### Article IV: Use of In-Game Bots

Players who employ the aid of “bots” and/or “agents” to automate in-game user activity will be subject to a jail sentence in addition to a fine. Bots used to monitor the marketplace and alert players about specific activities may not be subject to this rule, depending on their use.

#### Article V: Due Process and Payment of Fines

Players suspected of wrongdoing will be investigated and may be placed in Alcatraz while under investigation.

1. Players will receive an email explaining why they are under investigation.
2. Players can appeal their case by responding to the email and providing details about their circumstances.
3. After all documentation is collected, a decision will be made, and the player will be notified.

If a player is found to be in violation, they will be placed in Alcatraz until their fines are paid. (In some extreme cases, players may be required to serve a lifetime sentence in Alcatraz.) If a player is found not to have acted in bad faith, they will be immediately notified, and no action will be taken.

Players who have committed wrongdoing within Upland will be expected to pay a fine in order to rectify the damage they have done to the Upland economy. This fine is intended to be a direct injection of the missing value that the player’s activity removed from the economy. Fines may also be paid in the form of burning UPX, properties, NFTs, or any other item of economic value.

To maintain the integrity of the Upland economy, we strongly advise strict adherence to these guidelines. The Upland Team will not hesitate to take action against players who violate the Upland Constitution. Please be reminded that there may be certain extreme cases in which players are jailed for violating rules not explicitly stated in the Upland Constitution.

### THE BILL OF RIGHTS

#### Amendment I: Trackable Token Ownership

One of the magical things about using the blockchain, and some would say its primary benefit, is the idea of transparency. The meaning of (trackable) ownership has evolved alongside blockchain technology. At Upland, we define it as the notion that you are in primary control of your in-game assets.

When a player levels up from “Visitor” and reaches “Uplander” status (10,000+ UPX net worth), a permanent blockchain account is automatically created for the player. The private keys to that account are generated from the player’s email/password combination. Though the Upland system helps players manage their blockchain account, the Upland operator does not strive to control any player’s in-game assets. The account belongs to the player and allows them to manage their assets.

#### Amendment II: Play

Players in Upland can play the game by purchasing a virtual property mapped to a real-world address. Players have the opportunity to receive special rewards by completing signature property collections, participating in daily treasure hunts, competing in live events, buying, selling, or trading digital assets, and enjoying other in-game activities.

#### Amendment III: Build

In Upland, building is the core, and players can build cities that matter. Residential and service structures, speedways for car racing, and the manufacturing of map assets allow everyone to create and customize something unique for themselves and for the community. Building in Upland requires the SPARKLET utility token.

#### Amendment IV: Trade

Upland has a player-driven economy in which supply and demand determine prices, just as in the real world. Collecting fees from visitors on properties or flipping properties is one part of Upland’s gamification, allowing players to benefit from markups.

But they can also trade other digital items in Upland, some of which they may have created themselves, making these players digital entrepreneurs and opening so-called Metaventures. Trading is facilitated by the in-app currency UPX and US$.

#### Amendment V: Connect

The Upland Parallel World is inherently social. Players will have the opportunity to socialize with fellow Uplanders, learn game strategies, and collaborate with Upland’s outstanding online gaming community. Every player, without exception to Race, Creed, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Age, etc., is expected to be treated with respect, kindness, and understanding.

***

Note: The “Upland Constitution” is subject to change as the Parallel World continues to develop. Amendments will be added as necessary. The constitution serves as community guidelines for Upland’s governance. Players are always invited to review our [Terms of Service](https://upland.me/documents/Terms-of-Service-Feb-4-2024.pdf) and [Privacy Policy](https://upland.me/privacy-policy). Remember: Upland is a game for everyone to enjoy.

# Travel

## Moving Block Explorers in a City

Just like the real world, getting from A to B in Upland is an important part of the experience. Here we provide a brief overview with links to deeper guidance on travel in Upland.

#### Traveling inside a city <a href="#traveling-inside-a-city" id="traveling-inside-a-city"></a>

Traveling in the current city you're in can be done in two ways:

* Let your Block Explorer roam randomly (which it does automatically)
* Use a Send to direct your Block Explorer to a specific location.

Sometimes a destination will be too far for a Send. In these circumstances, players should use multiple Sends to reach the destination. [*Learn more here.*](https://youtu.be/GFiShPRzV9w)

#### **What Does My Block Explorer Do?** <a href="#what-does-my-block-explorer-do" id="what-does-my-block-explorer-do"></a>

Your block explorer constantly wanders the Upland metaverse, searching for unique and interesting properties to acquire. Your block explorer's path is both random and automatic, as the direction it travels cannot be directly controlled.‍

#### **Understanding "Sends"** <a href="#understanding-sends" id="understanding-sends"></a>

You can manually send your block explorer to a minted property by using "Sends." Every Uplander automatically gets three sends which recharge every 24 hours. Players can hold up to a max of 11 sends. It's also possible to farm additional sends by clicking on the paper airplane icons that spawn across the map. Note that your block explorer must be in range in order to pick up sends, so you may have to spend a "send" to get in range first.‍

#### **Visit Fees** <a href="#visit-fees" id="visit-fees"></a>

When visiting a minted property on the map, you will have to pay a visit fee (set by the owner of the property). This fee can range from anywhere between 5 UPX and 100 UPX and is adjustable by the owner of the property. Send fees also vary by city, as each has its own minimum and maximum threshold for send fees.‍

#### **Moving Your Block Explorer** <a href="#moving-your-block-explorer" id="moving-your-block-explorer"></a>

To teleport your block explorer, click on any minted property (colored green or blue) on the map and tap the "send" button. Once you click send, your block explorer will rapidly travel to the target location. Keep in mind you can only send within city limits. If you want to travel to a new city, you'll have to take a train, bus, or airplane depending on the city you're in. You can also tap on your Block Explorer as it appears on the map which opens a menu featuring a few icons. Click on the paper airplane icon on the right to manually send your Block Explorer to one of your own properties or a specific address.‍

#### **Block Explorer Trails** <a href="#block-explorer-trails" id="block-explorer-trails"></a>

Block explorers leave a marked trail that indicates the properties its visited as it traverses the map. This trail will start to appear after your block explorer starts moving. These trails also give you the chance to take a look at the properties your block explorer has discovered. After a certain period of time, the trail will vanish.

## Moving Between Cities

Whether players are looking for a change of scenery or are chasing challenges across the map, traveling from one city to another is a big part of the Upland experience. [*Learn more about trains, planes, and buses right here.*](https://youtu.be/5tqW2cWd-j8)

#### **Air Travel** <a href="#air-travel" id="air-travel"></a>

**‍**Flights are the main mode of travel between San Francisco and New York. To board a flight, send your explorer either to any plane terminal. Please note that some terminals are domestic terminals are marked with a white icon, while international terminals are marked with a yellow icon.

Each airport has several Terminals. When you head to an airport, select a Terminal in the popup window when Sending your Block Explorer to the airport. Capacity at terminals is limited every day.

Once you have reached the airport, click the terminal icon nearest to you to open the Flights Menu. This will display available flights by type and destination.

Please note that flights take time. The longer the distance, the more time it takes. Travel is not instant. This is a part of the real-world simulation Upland strives for. ‍

#### **Train Travel** <a href="#train-travel" id="train-travel"></a>

Trains function similarly to airplanes, but are slower and less expensive (like the real world). Also, there may be less routes available at a bus Terminal. For example, the bus in Arlington only travels to Dallas.

To travel on a train, first send your explorer to a train Terminal on the map. A popup window will prompt you to choose which station you wish to travel to. Select the station, then sit back and relax and enjoy the journey!

#### **Buses** <a href="#buses" id="buses"></a>

These are the slowest forms of transportation, but are often cheaper. Busses only travel to select cities. Look for the bus icon on the map to discover routes and other information before traveling.

# Uppies - Residents of Upland

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/0EdYLcLqlSI?si=0TA8ZL4hcJceV8wT>" %}

*Note: The explanations below serve as an overview of Uppies and the concept of residents. The features will be implemented over time and might not yet be available in the game.*

Uppies are Upland’s digital residents. They bring neighborhoods to life, make your city-building choices matter, and respond to how well an area is developed, connected, and serviced. As Uppies arrive, the Upland map and property cards will start showing where residents live and what’s attracting them—so you can plan, build, and improve with real impact.

Uppies are characters with preferences, patterns, and personalities. You’ll see both everyday citizens (families, professionals, shop owners, artists) and rarer “Iconic Uppies” with distinct designs and stories that stand out.

* Common & Rare: From ordinary residents to unique, highly collectible characters
* Cultural flavor: Iconic Uppies add humor and identity to the world.

### Where do Uppies show up?

You’ll see Uppies at multiple levels of the experience:

* On the Map: City and neighborhood views will show where residents concentrate and how those numbers shift over time.
* On Property Cards: Zoom in to see how many Uppies live on a property and how that changes as you add structures.
* On Player Profiles: Track your influence and where your residents live by city and neighborhood.

Uppies respond to well-rounded, livable neighborhoods. The more you invest in services and connectivity, the more appealing your area becomes. Key drivers include:

* Service Structures: Essentials (e.g., clinics, supermarkets), entertainment (arcades, cafés), public services (schools, fire stations), transportation, and employment. Upland is also introducing multi-purpose structures that boost more than one category.
* Transportation: Connected cities feel more alive. Vehicles and transit matter for resident appeal.
* Good mix & quality: A balanced spread of services improves your neighborhood’s Influence with residents.

Tip: Time-limited Service Structure sales grant permanent build rights for that model. If you miss a drop, you can’t build that exact model later. Plan ahead.&#x20;

### Owning, trading, and collecting Uppies

* In the near future, Players will be able to buy, sell, and trade Uppies on the secondary market.
* Discovery & collection: The “discover and collect” experience called Uppiepedia, the official, living log of every Uppie, is live and can be accessed via: <http://uppies.upland.me/>.

### Uppies Evolution (leveling system)

Each Uppie has traits and a level. More traits → higher level (1–10), with Iconic Uppies reaching a special star level above the top tier. You can combine two Uppies of the same level to evolve into a higher-level resident. Seasonal “burn events” will be important milestones in the evolution cycle.&#x20;

### How the map UI changes

Uppies come with a refreshed UI so you can see resident activity where it matters:

* City & neighborhood hot spots
* Property-level counts
* Personal breakdowns by city/neighborhood\
  This transparency makes it easier to spot growth areas, set goals, and monitor progress.

### Quick start checklist

1. Add services: Prioritize a mix—health (e.g., Clinic), essentials (e.g., Super Market), safety (e.g., Fire Station), and entertainment (e.g., Arcade, café).
2. Connect your area: Use vehicles and plan access—transport boosts attractiveness.
3. Watch the map: Track where Uppies gather; adjust your build plan accordingly.
4. Prepare for drops: Limited-time Service Structure sales unlock permanent build rights—mark dates and budget.
5. Think long-term: Evolution and future discovery mechanics will reward thoughtful collecting.<br>

## Build for Residents: Service Structures, Transportation & Resident Score

Three things will work together to make neighborhoods livable and competitive:\
Service Structures (what your city offers), Transportation (how connected it feels), and Resident Score (how the system measures neighborhood strength).

### Service Structures: the backbone of livability

Service Structures add the everyday places Uppies want. They’re released in limited-time sales, and when you buy one, you permanently unlock the right to build that model on any compatible property you own.[ ](https://upland.me/events/residents-are-coming-to-upland-get-ready-for-the-age-of-the-uppies)

* Multi-purpose structures cover more than one need (e.g., a Super Market Super Store that’s primarily Essential with a small Entertainment boost; a High School that’s Public Service with an Entertainment bonus from its field). This helps you cover multiple categories using fewer lots.
* Kiosks (e.g., Hot Dog Stand) are compact service buildings that fit on small properties and still contribute Service Units.
* Multiple structures per property are supported/coming online, which makes the placement strategy more flexible.

#### Why they matter

Service Structures contribute Service Units—a key input to Resident Score. A balanced mix (not just one category) improves how attractive your neighborhood is to residents.[ ](https://upland.me/events/residents-are-coming-to-upland-get-ready-for-the-age-of-the-uppies)

Quick tips

* Prioritize a mix: Essentials + Entertainment + Public Services (and add Employment/Transportation where possible).
* Use multi-purpose and kiosks to fill gaps or work with smaller lots.
* Watch for limited-time drops—build rights are permanent, but availability windows are not.

### Transportation: make your city feel connected

Vehicles now play a direct role in attracting Uppies. Cars, vans, buses, and semi-trucks affect appeal at different levels, and cargo capacity is especially important (more capacity implies better simulated delivery flow for your services). Private planes also count. Vehicles remain placed on properties but simulate city logistics and connectivity.[ ](https://www.upland.me/events/transportation-and-uppies-get-ready-to-move-upland-forward)

Transportation also contributes to your broader Influence and will factor into neighborhood performance. If you’ve held vehicles, you’re already positioned to benefit; if not, watch for vehicle drops (e.g., van/transport bundles).[ ](https://www.upland.me/events/transportation-and-uppies-get-ready-to-move-upland-forward)

Quick tips

* Place vehicles in the neighborhoods you want to grow—parked supply matters.
* Favor higher-capacity vehicles when possible; they lift attractiveness more.

### Resident Score: how “livable” gets measured

Resident Score runs behind the scenes today and ranks neighborhoods by how well they support residents. Two core ideas drive it:

* Living Units (housing capacity)
* Service Units (support capacity)\
  The system looks at both totals and ratios like “per Living Unit,” so small but well-served neighborhoods can outperform larger, under-served ones. Activity (e.g., active home addresses) also matters.

#### Key parameters the system considers

Examples include:

* Active Home Addresses
* Service Units per Living Unit (Essential, Transportation, Employment, Entertainment, Public Service)
* Variety within service categories (e.g., multiple types of essentials vs. just one)
* Greenery, Landmarks, Ornaments, Decorations (per Living Unit)
* Residential space per Living Unit and density\
  Not all parameters have equal weight, but balanced services per Living Unit is a recurring theme.
* Service Unit values are visible during construction, so you can plan precisely.
* Home address pins on the map to see who lives where and track engagement.

Quick tips

* If your occupancy is high but residents are few, add housing. If housing is abundant but occupancy is low, add services and variety.
* Track how changes move your “per Living Unit” metrics over time.

### Starter blueprint&#x20;

1. Place a baseline mix: Essentials (e.g., supermarket), Entertainment (e.g., arcade/bowling), Public Service (e.g., clinic/school). Fill small gaps with kiosks.
2. Add transportation: Park vehicles where you want resident growth; prioritize capacity.
3. Boost variety: Including different service types within each category raises your score.
4. Watch the data: Use visible Service Units and home pins (as they ship) to optimize.
5. Plan drops: Grab limited-time structures to lock permanent build rights.

### The Census

The Census is designed to be a helpful tool for exploring neighborhoods and understanding how residents are shaping Upland. It will offer players access to key stats, trends, and rankings, providing a clearer picture of where things stand and helping inform decisions about where to live, build, and compete. See it at: <https://upland.me/census>.&#x20;

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/zY1y-fiS0sk?si=ciTfOhUmfoOs8K0P>" %}

### Uppiepedia

The truth is: The world Uppies inhabit is created by a system. The simulation is real. Curated by Upland players. Alive with evolving logic. Welcome to the Uppiepedia, the official, living log of every Uppie. It tracks which Uppies have been discovered/collected, and which have already evolved or been merged out of existence. It’s the foundation for everything that’s coming. Explore Uppiepedia now at [**upland.me/uppies**](http://uppies.upland.me/) and find out more in this video:

## Legits Glossary

**Player Essentials and Team Essentials**\
Essentials are branded 3D NFTs that are not limited by quantity but by time and seasons. For example, a set of Essentials may only be available for a 2022 season. In essence, Essentials are more common NFTs that can be used to complete Legit Collections or combined to generate rarer, more exclusive NFTs like Replicas.

**Player Essential Variants and Team Essential Variants**\
Essentials with a visual twist that have fewer total mints than standard Essentials.

**Player Mementos**\
These Mementos are rare, unique Legits (always 1-of-1) that commemorate real-world events related to the brand or persona. These NFTs are typically integrated with unique data such as a players' stats for a particular game. Players will be able to register to secure Mementos prior to a game's start. After the game, the Memento will be minted alongside the player's stats for that game. If the player has a standout performance that day, it's possible for the Memento to "catch fire," increasing its visual uniqueness and rarity.

**Team Mementos**\
These Mementos are rare Legits that commemorate real-world events related to the brand or team. These NFTs are typically integrated with unique data such as a teams' stats for a particular game. Players will be able to register to secure Mementos prior to a game's start. After the game, the Memento will be minted alongside the team's stats for that game. If the team had a standout performance that day, it's possible for the Memento to "catch fire," increasing its visual uniqueness and rarity.

Users can register to mint a Memento for one team per stadium each day. Registering gives each user a chance to mint a Memento for one team during the Early Sale. After the Early Sale all users can mint remaining Mementos while supplies last, but users may have to wait a few minutes between mints.

Your Team Fan Score increases your chances of being near the front of the Early Sale queue. You can boost your Team Fan Score by being one of the first 100 players to register for your team and by placing team Legits into completed collections. Your Team Fan Score can also be decreased if you were in the top 100 of the queue after registering for Mementos for a previous game this season for this team.

**Replicas**\
Replicas are NFTs that can be replicated by merging (or "burning") Legit Essentials. Replicas of mementos are essentially copies of mementos and are generally less valuable than the original memento.

**Spotlights**\
Videos that capture shareable social moments from football players.

**Rigs**\
Apparatus for playing Spotlights.

## General NFT Terms

**Minting**\
An event that describes the creation of an NFT.

**Existing Mints**\
The number of mints that remain on the blockchain. This number changes when other mints are burned or merged.

**Mint Number**\
The sequential number assigned to the Legit at the time it is minted. This number will not change when other mints are burned or merged. (Ex. “1 of 1”)

**Total Minted**\
The total amount of each Legit that has been minted on the blockchain.

**Minting Ends**\
The countdown for when minting ends.

**Bundles**\
Football Bundles contain 3 or more Legits and can be purchased from team stadiums. Bundles can include Player Essentials, Team Essentials, Player Mementos, and Team Mementos.

All bundle contents can be previewed before purchase. After your Legits are delivered, you can view them in your Asset Wallet under Football Legits. Once they’ve arrived, previously unknown Legit details, such as football player name and game stats, will be revealed.

Note: These Bundles are NOT tradeable, but individual Legits contained in Bundles are tradable after delivery.

**Flashback Bundles**\
Football Flashback Bundles contain 3 or more Legits and can be purchased from the UPX Store. Bundles can include Player Essentials, Team Essentials, Player Mementos, and Team Mementos.

After your Legits are delivered, you can view them in your Asset Wallet under Football Legits. Once they’ve arrived, previously unknown Legit details, such as football player name and position, will be revealed. For a full breakdown of Flashback Bundles contents as well as the odds of receiving your favorite football player, please check back for Flashback Bundles Descriptions and links to the Flashback Bundles tables below.

Details will be revealed after delivery.

Note: These bundles are NOT tradeable, but individual Legits contained in the bundles are tradeable after delivery.

**Legits Delivery**\
When you purchase a bundle from the UPX Store or Essentials from a team stadium, delivery time is usually a couple hours. If you purchase Mementos from a team stadium, each item will need to be minted before it is delivered. Delivery time for newly minted items will vary, and you’ll be notified when these items arrive, but delivery is usually a few days.

Legits purchased from Fan Shops should be delivered within minutes after the transaction is complete.

Trading a Legit for another Uplander’s Legit will require an offer to be submitted to one of the players. If the relevant parties accept, the Legits should be delivered within minutes.

After your Legits are delivered, you can view them in your Asset Wallet under the Legits section. Click on each Legit to reveal additional details such as the football player’s name, position, and stats (if it’s a Memento).

## Legits Mechanics & Features<br>

**Fan Points**\
Every Legit you own has a predetermined amount of Fan Points. Visit your team’s stadium to view your Team Fan Score or a player’s property to view your Player Fan Score.

Prove your fandom for individual football players by collecting Legits for each player. As you collect, your Player Fan Score will grow, making it easier to get Autographs and Spotlights.

Support any team by collecting Legits for that team. All the Fan Points for those Legits count toward your Team Fan Score. Visit your team’s stadium to view your current Team Fan Score.

Having a high Team Fan Score also increases your odds of getting a one-of-a-kind Memento when you register for a team before each game.

Points for Team & Player Fan Scores can be boosted by placing your Legits into collections or having them digitally autographed. Legits for different teams, leagues, and postseason games also carry a Fan Point multiplier due to their rarity. Some mechanisms to boost Fan Scores will be live in the coming months.

**Registering for Mementos at Stadiums**\
Check-in to a stadium during the Registration Period so that you can mint a Memento for one of the teams playing. You can only register for one team playing at each stadium, each day. The team with the most registered Uplanders will also give more autographs at the end of the game. If an available team is playing an away game at a stadium that is not yet opened in Upland, Mementos for that team may be available at the team’s stadium for those away games.

### Memento Registration Stages

**Stage 1: Pre-Registration Period**\
Before registration for the “Early Sale” starts there will be a countdown timer letting you know when registration for the “Early Sale” begins. Once the timer concludes, you will have to travel to the stadium and register for a chance to be included in the “Early Sale.”

**Stage 2: Registration Period**\
The first players to register for the Early Sale will receive an Early Bird Boost to their Team Fan Score. Team Fan Scores increase the odds of being near the front of the queue during the Early Sale. This means that players who register quickly will have a slight advantage over players who wait. After registration ends, you will receive a notification with your spot in the queue.

If you have landed in the top 100 queue positions for this team in the last 4 games, your Team Fan Score, as it applies to registering for Mementos for this game, will be reduced. This decrease is temporary and only applies to this team. For a more detailed breakdown see the table below.

**Stage 3: Early Sale**\
Registered players will receive a notification when it’s their turn to check in at the stadium to mint a Memento for the team they previously registered for. Mementos are limited while supplies last and only registered users will have a chance to mint Mementos during the Early Sale.

**Stage 4: Limited Sale**\
After the Early Sale period ends, the Limited Sale period will begin, which allows all users to mint any Mementos that went unminted during the Early Sale. During the Limited Sale, players can mint Mementos for either team, however, there will be a five-minute cooldown after each mint.

**Stage 5: Unlimited Sale**\
After the Limited Sale period concludes (usually a few hours after the game is over), players can mint any unminted Mementos for available teams without a cooldown.

**Stadiums**\
Uplanders can visit stadiums to purchase Essentials, register for Mementos, view the Fans Leaderboards, view the home team schedule, and get in line for autographs. When new team cities open, teams not present in their home city will relocate to their new home stadium.

Players can view stadiums if their block explorer isn’t close enough to register for upcoming games. To do so, click Football Legits and then Stadiums in the Menu.

After selecting a team, you will get to explore the stadium as if your block explorer was there. If your block explorer is close enough to check into the stadium, then you can also register for mementos, get in line for autographs, or purchase legits for available teams.

**Trading**\
Legits are fully tradable with other Uplanders.

To offer a trade, you’ll need to browse through another Uplander’s Assets by clicking on their profile, clicking their Assets, and selecting their “NFLPA LEGITS”. If their Legit is ACCEPTING OFFERS, scroll to the bottom of the Legit and click OFFER TRADE to start the transaction. Once the transaction is in progress, the other party must accept or decline your trade offer. You can also retract the offer by scrolling to the bottom of the Legit that you offered and clicking RETRACT OFFER.

You can also toggle ALLOW TRADE OFFERS at the bottom of any of your Legits. Toggle this off if you don’t want other Uplanders to offer to trade their Legit for your Legit.

You cannot offer a Legit for trade if it has already been offered to another user in a trade or if it is for sale in a Fan Shop.

# Totems

### What are Totems?

Totems are a captivating collection of map assets, embodied by unique life forms. As players, you'll embark on a journey to nurture and maintain your totems' health, requiring Protem spending. Skillful nurturing will yield additional Protem as rewarding outcomes.

The objective is to earn as much Protem rewards as possible in this exciting mini-game, serving as a simulation of the interaction between Stem and Life, on an exaggerated scale. It’s like Life on steroids. This thrilling experience provides a sneak peek into how Life will eventually work in Upland, giving you a taste of the fascinating mechanics to come.

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FKov11oVwMez3YINm5Z6F%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=2e069b1b-428d-46d1-8be1-2488db5b40ab" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### What are Stem and Protem?

In the expansive Upland metaverse, Stem will hold the vital role of sustaining all living things, such as trees, animals, and plants. Life's design will closely mirror the real world, where living assets will require nourishment in the form of Stem.

To facilitate the transition, Protem, a substitute currency, will be utilized until the full release of Stem and Life. Protem will be redeemable 1:1 with Stem upon its eventual launch. Before the totem first totem cycle begins, players will receive a fixed amount of Protem for each Totem they hold.

### How to Play Totems: Unleash the Magic

Get Your Totem\
Start by purchasing a totem from the Upland store. Each totem is a one-of-a-kind creation, boasting distinct traits that define its appearance and potential rewards.

Understand Traits\
Each totem possesses five unique traits – Life Form, Style, Color, Scale, and Totem Base. These traits influence your totem's behavior, rewards, and more. These visual traits represent five specific attributes of your totem – Output, Input, Frequency, Capacity, and Stamina.

Nurture Your Totem\
Spend Protem to nurture your totem and keep it "alive" during the 30-day cycle. The right spending strategy is essential – too much or too little can affect your rewards. Remember, spending frequency and amount matter.

Optimize Rewards\
Aim to spend Protem within each interval of the cycle. An interval is defined by the Frequency attribute, which will be explained in depth in a later section. Missing intervals might lead to penalties, and multiple spending within the same interval won't yield additional rewards. Find your totem's sweet spot and make the most of it.

Time Your Spends\
Timing matters! Make your Protem spend close to the center of the interval for the best results. This ensures maximum yield returns and enhances your totem's potential.

Embrace Diversity\
Explore various trait combinations, from Life Form to Style and Scale. Discover the synergies and nuances that make each totem special.

Harvest Rewards\
As you nurture your totem, it generates Protem rewards. Collect them periodically to grow your resources and further nurture your totem's potential.

### Totem Traits

Totem traits are the heart and soul of these captivating creatures. Each totem possesses 5 visual traits, and each trait represents an attribute that determines the nature of the totem. These traits — Life Form, Style, Color, Scale, and Totem Base — have multiple variations, resulting in each totem being truly unique in its combination of traits. These traits influence the totem's appearance, characteristics, and Protem rewards.

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FcoOy4l1F6zw8mupGVLgk%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=fedba190-d27d-40b7-8a21-3ab2b8c2decc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Life Form

Totem's Life Form presents an enchanting array of animal and plant types, comprising 11 captivating variations. Each Life Form is intricately connected to a distinct "Output" curve, showcasing the totem's yielding pattern and overall yield returns.

Now, let's break down the 11 types of output curves, representing the 11 lifeforms, with 6 archetypes of the earning journey you'll encounter in Upland.

The archetypes are:

Linear: Here, your rewards grow consistently over time – it's a direct, predictable climb, much like walking up a gentle slope.

Hockey Stick: This curve plays the long game. Initially, it's all slow and steady, but wait for it... suddenly, your rewards skyrocket, mirroring the sharp turn of a hockey stick. It's a game of patience with a potentially big payoff.

Wave: Get ready to surf! Rewards on this curve rise and fall, creating a wave-like pattern. It adds an element of timing and rhythm to your strategy, as you aim to catch the high points for maximum rewards.

Sharp Step: This curve initially offers rewards at a steady pace, then unexpectedly “steps” up to a higher rate. The sudden sharp step adds a dynamic twist to the earning trajectory.

Mild Step: In this curve, rewards begin at a consistent rate, then take a more mild step up at some point. The increase is slight, offering a modest yet noticeable lift in earnings.

Static Llama: Exclusive to the rare, one-of-a-kind Llama Totem, this output features a stable and consistent earning pattern.

Each output curve in Upland adds a unique twist to the gameplay, ensuring a rich and varied experience as you navigate your totems. Part of the game's allure is figuring out which output curve you're dealing with. Embrace the challenge of discovering and mastering the distinct attributes and rewards each curve offers, as you connect them with different Life Forms.

### Color

Totems boast 7 color variations: Orange, Brown, Purple, Green, Red, Blue, and Gold—ranging from least to most rare. Color signifies the "Frequency" attribute, reflecting how often a totem should be fed. Imagine a desert cactus needing weekly watering compared to a daily-doting tropical flower.

For the best outcomes, aim to make one Protem spend within each interval. Skipping an interval without spending may result in penalties on the totem's future yielding abilities. However, making multiple spends within the same interval won't harm the totem but can lead to wasted Protem and reduced yield effectiveness.

Timing is equally crucial—strive to make the spend close to the center of the time interval. Spending too far from the center will result in lower yield returns. So, be wise in your decisions, strike the perfect balance, and nurture your totems to unlock their true potential and maximize your rewards!

### Style

Style is the captivating artistic design of the totem's skin, with 7 variations—from least to most rare: Elegant, Gamer, Ancient, Fantasy, Future, Painted, and Fluid. Style embodies the "Input" attribute, which represents the total amount of Protem spend that generates yields in a cycle. Top-tier totems boast higher yieldable "Input" amounts in a cycle, enabling them to earn more Protem rewards.

When playing, determining the "optimal spend amount" for each interval is simple yet crucial. To calculate it, divide the total Protem Input amount by the number of intervals in a cycle. This ensures you allocate the right amount of Protem for each interval, maximizing your yield effectiveness.

When making a spend, keep the "optimal spend amount" in mind. Spending below this optimal value means missing out on the full yielding potential. On the other hand, spending above the optimal amount results in discarding the extra Protem, lowering your investment efficiency. Strive for precision and balance as you manage your Protem spending!

### Scale

Scale represents the enchanting visual size of a totem, offering 9 variations: Micro, Small, Normal, Medium, Large, Extra Large, Huge, Gigantic, and Epic, ranging from least to most rare. Scale signifies the "Capacity" attribute, denoting the maximum amount of Protem rewards a totem can hold before yielding stops. Players will need to come back to collect Protem yield rewards periodically.

### Totem Base

Totem Base is the shape design of a totem’s base. There are 4 variations: Hexagon, Pentagon, Square, and Circle, ranked from least rare to most. The totem Base represents the Stamina of a totem, which describes in the event that the feeding schedule is missed, what happens to the totem and the corresponding penalties. Some animals and plants are indeed tougher than others!

Like hardy animals and plants, some totems possess higher Stamina, enduring missed feeds without severe penalties better than others! The exact penalty details for each Stamina will be revealed at a later time. Understanding your totem's unique characteristics is key—care for them wisely and watch them thrive in this captivating world of Totem!

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FaEQ08pSUqNMJSW8KumHn%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=88ecc936-18b5-4388-84aa-861a588fc8d4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Property

Upland is one of the most dynamic virtual city builders, and it all starts with acquiring properties.

Players use properties to:

* Earn passive UPX through property yields
* Complete property Collections
* Gain a foothold in key locations

Here's a brief introduction to the different types of properties. Visit the Cities and Properties section of the guide for more information on buying and selling properties as well as property Collections.

#### Property Color Coding <a href="#property-color-coding" id="property-color-coding"></a>

* **Bright Green Property:** Unlocked properties that are currently unminted. By minting it, you'd become the property's very first owner.
* **FSA Property:** Fair Start Act, or FSA, properties are reserved for newer players, and are generally less expensive than non-FSA properties. We highly recommend new players (Visitors and Uplanders) to buy FSA.
* **Dark Green Property:** These are owned, minted properties that are currently listed on the secondary market for other Uplanders to purchase.
* **Blue Property:** These are owned, minted properties that are owned by other players and ***not*** currently listed on the secondary market.
* **Dark Blue Property:** These are minted properties that you currently own.‍
* **Gray Property:** These are locked, unminted properties (never minted on the blockchain) that have not been opened for minting yet.

# Assets

## Trading Assets (Swaps)

Players can leverage their portfolio of Upland Digital Assets (UDAs) to initiate 1-for-1 trades between other players. This means that players can trade an Ornament for a Block Explorer, Legit for an Ornament, Block Explorer for Legit, and everything in between!‍

#### **How to Swap** <a href="#how-to-swap" id="how-to-swap"></a>

To initiate a swap, you’ll need to place an offer on an Uplander’s Legit, Ornament, or Block Explorer. To do so, navigate to the player's profile by either clicking on their Block Explorer or by visiting an owned property and selecting their name.

Once their profile is open, select the “Assets” button to view the player's current Assets. Find the UDA you’d like to swap for and select the item you wish to acquire. Once the UDA view is open, you will have the option to submit an offer via the green “Submit Offer” button. Select the asset you’d like to include in your trade to submit your offer. If the offer is accepted, the new UDA will appear in your asset wallet under the relevant category.

# Transferring UPX

#### **How it Works** <a href="#how-it-works" id="how-it-works"></a>

Players can initiate an UPX transfer by navigating to another player's profile and selecting the "Send UPX" button. It's also now possible to search for specific players' profiles directly in the Upland App. Just open up the "Quick Menu" and select the "Player Search" icon to open up the Player Search feature.

![](https://guides.upland.me/~gitbook/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fassets-global.website-files.com%2F5f5a371cd210f625fb1f6c77%2F62019da2407bf28227980a1d_NYF1We97Vql1SCSdOgeCNVRmyTETNs2g9OVOlmWqc4Tw24t-lU5OnbtWFfT5SnoQw9IyJx6zDfDakW9PEznJD0mrq7gxN1rVBRh8ZAMQzHZzk6NM-1SJ0DpeIFpfftY5Jo-d3B5L.jpeg\&width=768\&dpr=4\&quality=100\&sign=1858d11c\&sv=1)

***Note:** The above images are mockups, the in-game experience may vary slightly.*

After selecting a player, click on the "Send UPX" button on their profile page to initiate the transfer process. Then, input the amount of UPX you wish to transfer; it will clearly state how much you will pay prior to the transaction. Once the details are confirmed, click "Send UPX" to complete the transfer. The recipient will be notified once the transaction is complete.

#### **UPX Transfers Mechanics and Restrictions** <a href="#upx-transfers-mechanics-and-restrictions" id="upx-transfers-mechanics-and-restrictions"></a>

**Upland status & Account Age**

UPX Transfers will only be available to players who are Uplanders and above, meaning that Visitors will not have the ability to both send or receive UPX. Players who reach Uplander will receive access to UPX transfers pending Identity Verification.

**Identity Verification**

All players who wish to send or receive UPX will be required to verify their identity with our partners at Tilia. Any attempt to use the UPX transfer feature without ID verification will prompt the player to complete this process.

**Transfer Limits & Cooldowns**

All acquired UPX (via marketplace, earnings, or store purchase) is subject to a 60-day cooldown period before it becomes transferrable. For example, if a player currently has 100,000 UPX in their account, but 50k of that UPX was purchased within the past 60 days, they will only have a maximum of 50k UPX (100k - 50k) available for transfer. Additionally, the minimum amount of UPX a player can transfer is 20 UPX.

**Marketplace Fee**

As with all Upland transactions, UPX transfers will be subject to the 10% marketplace transaction fee. 5% of this fee will be paid on the part of the sender, while the remaining 5% will be paid by the receiver. In other words, if Player A wants to send 1000 UPX to Player B, Player A will pay 1050 UPX, and Player B will receive 950 UPX.

**2FA & Captcha**

All UPX transfer transactions will also be subject to 2-Factor Authentication and Captcha to ensure the highest level of security of users. We highly recommend enabling 2FA if you plan on using the UPX transfer mechanic.

These restrictions are meant to ensure safe transactions for all of our players during the testing phase of this new feature. As always, these restrictions will be subject to change pending the outcomes of this pilot program.

# Earning

#### **The Digital NFT-to-USD Program** <a href="#the-digital-nft-to-usd-program" id="the-digital-nft-to-usd-program"></a>

Players have earned multi millions of US Dollars by trading properties and other assets in Upland! This is all facilitated by our digital NFT-to-USD program, courtesy of our partners at Thunes Financial Services LLC (formerly Tilia Pay). This program enables players to list any property and most other digital assets directly for US Dollars, meaning when another player purchases your property or asset, you'll have US Dollars deposited into your account instead of UPX.&#x20;

#### **Applying for Digital NFT-to-USD** <a href="#applying-for-digital-nft-to-usd" id="applying-for-digital-nft-to-usd"></a>

All players who level up to Uplander will automatically be added to the digital NFT-to-USD program. Players can learn more about how it works [here.](https://youtu.be/lanFBp4XrW8?si=egEqHOGJY5ygTn2R)‍

#### **Leveraging UPX to Earn USD** <a href="#leveraging-upx-to-earn-usd" id="leveraging-upx-to-earn-usd"></a>

While you can buy and sell properties and assets on the open marketplace for USD, the only way to acquire fresh properties is to mint them using UPX. Many players capitalize on new city releases by stacking UPX and minting several fresh properties at release. Players often take these properties and list them on the secondary market for USD, thereby turning their UPX holdings into real-world dollars.‍

#### **Digital NFT-to-USD Terms & Conditions (subject to change)** <a href="#digital-nft-to-usd-terms-and-conditions" id="digital-nft-to-usd-terms-and-conditions"></a>

1\. All participants in the digital NFT-to-USD Beta Program must agree to the following Terms & Conditions:

2\. Agreement to the terms affirms that the player understands that this program is in Beta. This means that service is susceptible to interruption and certain mechanics and restrictions are subject to change.

3\. Players can sell up to 20 properties at a time with a $10,000 maximum on individual transactions.

4\. Players will be unable to purchase properties worth more than $100 until their account has been active for at least 14 days.

5\. Properties are unable to be sold via digital NFT-to-USD for a fixed period following the acquisition of the property (through either minting or secondary marketplace purchase.) See below for restrictions by Upland Status.

* Uplander: 30 Days
* Pro: 14 Days
* Director: 7 Days

# Metaventures

Metaventures are player-owned and operated businesses in the Upland metaverse. Metaventures are a big part of Upland's secondary market.

In Metaventures, players can acquire assets that might otherwise not be available to them. And as a player-run market, prices are up to Metaventure owners, creating opportunities to make a profit or strike a bargain.

As new types of Metaventures emerge, more asset types will be sold. As of today, Metaventure's inventory may include:

* Block Explorers
* Legits (FIFA World Cup, NFLPA, etc.)
* Structure Ornaments
* Map Assets

Any player can start a Metaventure as long as they meet the requirements. It's a fun way to get more involved in Upland while making UPX or even USD!

## Finding a Metaventure

### Orange Metaventure Shop Indicators

Metaventure Shops & Showrooms are easily identified in Upland. Just look for orange dots on the map.

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FZSY08JuSsZJFCI7wlQGh%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=bdcc94aa-7d9e-4673-93fd-915c63ff16af" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Top-Down View of a Metaventure

Zooming into the property level reveals a pill button that players can click to access the Metaventure's information and inventory.

Metaventures also have floating air pins (3D icon) and building signage with the Metaventure's name above the structure. Each type of Metaventure has its own air pin;

* Block Explorer Shops: Purple Chess pawn pin
* NFLPA Fan Shops: Blue foam finger pin
* Football Fan Shops: Red Scarf pin
* Car Showrooms: Black Steering Wheel pin
* Map Asset Showrooms: Grey Statue pin
* Structure Ornament Showrooms: Multicolored Lights Pin

### Branding and Customizability

#### Background

Metaventure owners can customize their shops with their branding. Two primary ways to do this are to add a store banner and a store background.

Customizable branding is an important feature for Metaventures and allows brands to differentiate themselves from the competition.

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FmsV5rGp3Jo2V2X1G9qRe%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=d77334a9-54e1-448e-be94-486223f69056" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Metaventure Homepage

Players can also customize a shop description that appears in the lobby of their Metaventure. This can include HTML links to their website, blog, or social media.

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FQajLY5icypeDuEMaqYLq%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=78f4dd55-5bac-4d58-8c10-a4b681adcc66" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Inventory, Pricing, and Sub-Merchants<br>

Items can be purchased for either UPX or USD, and share the same pricing limits as properties. For example, there is currently a $10,000 cap on any USD sales.

*Note: this cap may be removed in the future.*

Metaventure owners have the freedom to manually set commission rates for other players who wish to list their items in their store. For example, the shop owner can collect between a 2% and 10% commission on sales of other players' NFTs in their shop. This will be configurable per Metaventure and per owner.

### Listing and Pricing Assets as a Merchant or Sub-Merchant

#### Listing Assets

Select an asset to list it for sale.

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FE5YxBitR2GwJBftwmrWs%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=42f4d5b7-a139-42e6-a035-12e40fbfe65a" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Pricing Assets

Choose your offer type (UPX or USD), then set the offer price.

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FssJgLr6VKolFtsFQGiWu%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=b691dcaa-c02b-4ee6-b099-73347e2105a7" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Sub-Merchant Listings

Metaventure owners will see other players requests to sell their items as a sub-merchant. The Metaventure owner may accept the request or work with the sub-merchant on pricing.

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FQa3rZzqzbRQDAjR5mQf5%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=cbd99234-1103-490e-b33d-5b3cec55d719" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Accepting and Rejecting Sub-Merchant Requests

After reviewing sub-merchant requests, Metaventure owners may accept or reject the requests.

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FXksiWqpwGxb04aK7b2UU%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=c1356830-f58a-480e-9fcd-4f144116a24f" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Marketplace Fees

As with all other transactions in the Upland metaverse, each sale or purchase will be subject to a 5% marketplace transaction fee paid by the buyer. Because Metaventure owners are subject to Venture Dues (and sub-merchants are subject to commission fees), only the buyer pays the 5% fee vs. the standard 10% marketplace fee.

## Venture Dues

As a part of Upland's economy, which is modeled after real economics and commerce, Metaventure entrepreneurs pay dues based on the performance and volume of each Metaventure type in a specific locale. Owners will pay a % of the median contribution paid to the community pool by Metaventures of the same type, in the same locale.

The Ventures Dues model will adjust on the basis of each Metaventure-type; meaning different Metaventure-types will have a different fee structure that is determined based on the attributes of each locale and its inventory supply.

Venture Dues are incurred pro-rata dependent upon the time at which the Metaventure is opened. Meaning that players will only start incurring fees for the remainder of the month that they begin operations.

Metaventure owners receive an in-game notification when it's time to submit their Venture Dues. If a Metaventure owner doesn't pay their dues, their business may be closed down.

### Paying Venture Dues

## Types of Metaventures

Upland's metaverse features a diverse and growing economy powered by player-owned businesses. Currently operational Metaventures include or will include:&#x20;

* Shops: Metaventure Shops refer to locations (marked as orange dots on the map) where players sell a specific type of NFT or Upland asset. These items may have been purchased directly from the Upland Store, partner stores, won in an activity, or acquired from another player.

  Think of Shops as specialty stores where you'll find specific items from a slice of Upland. You'll find various shops, including:

  * NFLPA Fan Shops: These Metaventures offer NFLPA Legits (see more below as an example)
  * Block Explorer Shops: These Metaventures only sell Block Explorers
  * Football Fan Shops: These Metaventures sell Football (aka soccer) Legits from our partner, FIFA
  * Variety Legit Shops: Offering a broader range of Legits that may not have dedicated marketplaces/shops
* Factories: These Metaventures are involved in the manufacturing of 3D in-game items, such as Map Assets, Structure Ornaments, and Karts (see below)
* Showrooms: These serve as a point of sale for manufactured goods, including Map Assets, Structure Ornaments, Karts, and Vehicles. In the first Showrooms, Metaventure owners will sell their own manufactured Map Assets items. ‍All Uplanders can build a Showroom on their property should they wish and apply for a Showrooms Metaventure to sell their own creations (after going through a review process and manufacturing them). Showroom owners may also sell another player's assets if desired. With these structures, inventory capacity will be relative to the size of the Showroom. Keep in mind, a Showroom’s capacity can allow for a maximum amount of items to be on display for sale, but the available space on the property will also play a part in how many can fit. Unlike factories, there will be no dedicated space on the property required to place items. When space allows, items can be placed, meaning they’re for sale.Speedways: Allowing players to own and operate racetracks for car and kart racing events. &#x20;
* Nurseries: Involved in the sale and minting of seed Legits
* Dev Shops: Metaventures created by members of the Upland Developer Network (UDN) to provide Layer 2 experiences.

#### NFLPA Fan Shops

Custom Branding Approval\
All user-submitted artwork must be approved by the NFLPA before production. This quality is unique to NFLPA Fan Shops, other Metaventures will only be subject to approval by the Upland team.

Inventory Supply\
Due to the greater total supply of Legits vs. other UNFTs (like Block Explorers), NFLPA Fan Shops will have increased capacity for items in their shops.

Fan Shop Beta Ventures Dues\
Venture dues start accruing beginning April 1st. Players will not have to pay any fees on the 1st but will be expected to pay Venture Dues the following month during the first week of May.

"Foam Finger" Air Pins\
NFLPA Fan Shops will be distinguished on the map by a blue, floating foam finger above each shop; similar to the floating pawn that appears above Block Explorer shops.

### Factories

Similar to the real world, assets like structures or cars in Upland require time to build and produce. In Upland, cars production has been happening at the MV Motors Plant, for example. Player-owned Factories produce 3D items such as Map Assets and Structure Ornaments. ‍

All Uplanders can build a Factory on their property as long as they meet the requirements. Uplanders will be able to use Factories to produce goods for their own Metaventure or for other Metaventures run by other Uplanders. Factory owners may also wish to leverage their existing Factories to trade with other Uplanders who are eager to start production immediately, rather than wait for a Factory to be built. The decision is yours.

‍Keep in mind that storage capacity is relative to the size of the property. A bigger location will allow for greater capacity of item storage. During production, when a property is full, Factories will not produce any more items until the existing inventory has been manually moved to other properties. When space allows, production will continue.

#### Building a Factory

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/qTQPwFZyiDw?si=PjR8ybaNcIawmhgP>" %}

Step 1: Go to your property and open the build menu. Then “Small Factory I” (or another Factory size if desired).

Step 2: Position the Factory on your lot per usual. Make sure this is placed in a corner or away from the center of the property to allow for the maximum space to draw your inventory lot in the next step.

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2Fl83NhNxeSrTvDWdsd10N%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=13cfc7d2-82de-4a96-aa92-defb3e8b2fd4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Step 3: Confirm positioning and placement of the Factory

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FxvCvpIZUrKjSY5SuWYRg%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=ee35efae-004d-4f7a-ab5f-c321732a038a" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Step 4: Position your Inventory Lot by dragging the green area to your desired location. Re-size and re-shape the Inventory Lot by using the four arrows. You can also use the icons on the right side of the screen to adjust the Inventory Lot lines.

Step 5: Confirm Inventory Lot position and sizing. When confirmed, you’ll see how much UP^2 there will be within your Inventory Lot. The Inventory Lot cannot be modified after confirmation. If the Factory is demolished and rebuilt, a new Inventory Lot can be drawn.

Step 6: After confirming the Inventory Lot size and location, stake Spark and start construction!

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FZPiEfC2MfvZbbE4UuO6B%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=6706d813-357e-4183-9041-003eb0064153" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# UPX

Upland’s in-game UPX token is available in the Upland store. UPX offers players the freedom to buy, sell, and trade properties using a peer-to-peer trustless method of exchange.

Players will need to buy UPX with Credit Card, Paypal, Crypto or within the mobile App (Android/iOS) to purchase properties and other items within the game. UPX is implemented as a utility token (value carrier/medium of exchange), derived from the blockchain token system contract, and is not tradable outside of the game. UPX can be purchased in fixed amounts from the Upland store, which is located in the top right corner of the app.

### **Earn** <a href="#id-3cc1" id="id-3cc1"></a>

Live the digital property tycoon dream and collect UPX on each of your Upland properties. UPX earnings can be collected every three hours and will be added to your Upland account.

<figure><img src="https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:700/1*waV7_ZO9MBwXcj-owQJgpw.png" alt="" height="350" width="700"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The amount of UPX you earn on a property is dependent on the initial property value, and your UPX earnings can be boosted by completing collections.

The Upland Collections group together a limited number of properties in the same area or with similar characteristics. This could be anything from owning three addresses on the same street or collecting multiple museum properties from across the city, for example.

If you complete an Upland collection, you will earn a one-time UPX bonus and an earnings boost on all properties within the collection.

## Trade on the marketplace following supply & demand <a href="#id-383a" id="id-383a"></a>

Upland’s marketplace allows players to trade digital assets directly with one another. Players can put their properties up for sale and accept UPX as payment.

Players can also accept other properties as payment and swap properties directly with other Uplanders. The handy marketplace feature also allows players to make offers on other players’ properties, even if they haven’t been listed for sale.

Once you make an offer on a property, your UPX will be placed in escrow until the player accepts or rejects your offer. You can also retract your offer before this stage.

Each Marketplace transaction is subject to a 10% community contribution fee, 5% from the buyer and 5% from the seller. This contribution goes back into the Upland economy to support community functions.

# $SPARKLET (White Paper 2023)

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/FwxCs9Ho7gM?si=2Np0vMEFJQoAvLdv>" %}

## Executive Summary

THIS WHITE PAPER IS A DRAFT THAT HAS BEEN SHARED WITH THE UPLAND COMMUNITY. ALL STATEMENTS AND NUMBERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGES PRIOR TO THE FINAL RELEASE OF THE WHITE PAPER.

Upland, one of the world’s most widely adopted web3 metaverse platforms, is making its foundational utility token SPARKLET tradable outside of the Upland platform via a Token Tradability Event (“TTE”).

As an Immersive Layer-1 Gaming Platform, Upland is open for players, entrepreneurs, creators, partners, and developers to build and expand it within and beyond its boundaries (“Ecosystem Partners”). These Ecosystem Partners utilize the infrastructure and services provided by the platform so that they may focus on value creation within the economy. Upland utilizes SPARKLET as the resource that is required for any stakeholder to create value in the form of world-building, community development, user-generated content, and unrestricted development of games, experiences, and services.

In the scope of the TTE, SPARKLET will be transformed into a new ERC-20 token, which could be bridged into and used inside Upland.

This initiative signifies Upland's commitment to advancing its path toward progressive decentralization, where SPARKLET holders will now be able to trade it in liquid markets. Additionally, it aims to enhance its presence and credibility within the broader Web3 industry through the listing on top-tier exchanges, attracting a larger user base to the platform and enhancing the platform’s network effects. Ultimately, Upland remains steadfast in its mission to develop the world’s largest digital open economy.

## About Upland and the Need for SPARKLET

Upland is on its mission to build the world's largest open digital economy with a web3 foundation, which will be a pivotal part of the future “Open Metaverse.” Today, Upland is one of the most widely-used web3 platforms, with 3,000,000+ registered accounts, an average of 30,000+ daily active players, close to 300,000 unique land owners, and 6,000,000+ NFTs sold.

The Upland platform was launched in 2019 as a virtual property trading game mapped to the real world. It introduced an in-game token called UPX which can be bought with fiat or crypto currency at a fixed exchange rate of $1 for 1,000 UPX. UPX is not traded on external exchanges. It is used as a medium-of-exchange for a wide variety of purposes, such as minting properties, purchasing digital assets in the Upland store, and powering various in-game activities and marketplace transactions.

Alongside its impressive growth in the community of players, Upland has transformed into a layer 1 metaverse, delivering the foundational infrastructure of an open, immersive web, including identity, liquidity, currency, land, no-code NFT creation, fiat on/off ramps, and governance. This was achieved by opening the entire ecosystem to 3rd party developers through a set of comprehensive APIs that allow anyone to cast any type of new value into the ecosystem and also expand on the existing Upland functionality, mechanics, and services.

As part of its strategy to enable an open architecture and platform services for entrepreneurs, creators, and developers to create new forms of value, Upland needed to solve the problem of providing a sustainable business model to support such a vast creator platform and to establish sustainable incentivization loops and network effects. The solution was introduced in 2021 with SPARKLET - a utility token that, together with a set of tools and mechanisms, allow stakeholders to create and power any non-living element in Upland.

At its core, SPARKLET fuels all value creation in Upland. It is the resource required for world-building, joint community projects, no-code NFT minting, and “manufacturing” of 3D map NFTs such as cars or decor items and more.

## SPARKLET Utility and Demand

Ecosystem participants in the open economy including Upland Players, Upland Entrepreneurs and Creators, 3rd Party Developers and Brand/Partners, all require SPARKLET for a variety of functions:

### Upland Players

Require SPARKLET to build and develop their properties and neighborhoods. Coming in 2024, players will also use SPARKLET to charge their virtual vehicles for means of travel (a core metaverse mechanic) or leisure (e.g. racing).

### Upland Entrepreneurs and Creators

Require SPARKLET to build shops, factories, and showrooms to facilitate their “Metaventures” – player-owned businesses – that serve as specialized primary and secondary market shops in the economy. Used as a resource for the creation of user-generated content (“UGC”) NFTs, Upland Entrepreneurs also use SPARKLET for the no-code manufacturing (minting) of virtual assets that can be traded with other players.

### 3rd Party Developers

Require SPARKLET to establish map presence via “Dev Shops” (unique constructions which allow players to discover and launch the developers’ offering from within the Upland map) for visibility. SPARKLET fuels the implementation of their zero-code web3 and NFT strategy using the Upland platform

### Partners/Brands

(e.g. FIFA, NFLPA, UNICEF, Stock Car Pro Series) Need SPARKLET in a similar fashion to Upland Entrepreneurs. The partner/brand creates virtual assets that would be offered to players for purchase during events, in mini-games, and competitions. SPARKLET powers the partner’s/brand’s metaverse strategy for fan engagement, co-creation, and monetization in the open metaverse.

## Existing SPARKLET Utility

In Upland, SPARKLET can either be “staked” (i.e. allocated to a task for the duration that it takes to complete) or (coming in the near future) “spent” (used to achieve an immediate outcome), depending on the use case. Players can also stake SPARKLET towards other players’ projects. Tasks that require staking are measured in “Spark Hours” (time to complete a task per staked SPARKLET) while creations that require spending are measured in SPARKLET denominations up to the single SPARKLET (e.g. 1 SPARKLET).

### Construction and World Building

SPARKLET can be staked towards the construction of structure NFTs that are tethered to the property NFT on the Upland map. There are various types of structures which currently include: Houses, Apartment Buildings, Factories, stadiums, Cafes, Show Rooms, and Speedway Pole Structures.

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FGI2AMLGT5njj9lXU0HEO%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=c5b60f44-532b-4d74-ac2d-bb208c8dc611" alt=""><figcaption><p>World Building</p></figcaption></figure>

### Manufacturing

SPARKLET can be staked towards the manufacturing of Map Items–NFTs that are visually represented and viewable on the Upland map. These items include (but are not limited to): Map Assets (e.g. Decor, Fixtures, Statues, etc.), Structure Ornaments (e.g. Decorations for Halloween), and Cars and Racing Karts.

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FH0Np5ekOezanVx82OvUK%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=23217d88-2a50-4c53-b05c-f9c0323faf6d" alt=""><figcaption><p>Manufacturing</p></figcaption></figure>

### Renting SPARKLET

SPARKLET holders in Upland may rent SPARKLET out to other stakeholders who wish to use it for its utility. This can be achieved today using layer-2 services that use Upland’s developer APIs. One successful example of such tools is the UPX Spark Exchange - a UDN PRO (Upland Developer Network) app within the Upland ecosystem.

## SPARKLET Statistics Since Launch (June 2021)

### SPARKLET Holders and Usage

As of today, there are over 140,000 players in Upland who hold SPARKLET. SPARKLET usage in Upland has been constantly growing as more players get access to the token, and more utility is introduced for its usage, as shown in the graph below (in this graph, Spark stands for 1,000 SPARKLET).

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2F9Z9PgcPWaTrijhkiunhB%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=194772f6-6319-4ac1-bf82-6dfc11283c31" alt=""><figcaption><p>Staking</p></figcaption></figure>

## SPARKLET Roadmap

Upland is working to increase the utility of SPARKLET within the metaverse economy. Different mechanics for SPARKLET spending and staking include (but are not limited to) the following developments:

### Energizing Transportation and Racing

SPARKLET will be used to charge any inanimate object that requires energy. Vehicles, for example, are used in Upland as a means of transportation or for entertainment and leisure (e.g. competitive racing).

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2F7xzumbueye99FyjVgyP5%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=182f60f3-2fff-4ee7-8aac-4ada91e2b1be" alt=""><figcaption><p>Cars in Upland</p></figcaption></figure>

### ‘Legits’ NFT Creation

SPARKLET will be required to be spent to create any Legit-class NFTs. Legits are 3D NFTs that are meant for use in internal spaces (e.g. homes, venues etc.) in Upland or in 2nd layer applications by 3rd parties that are connected to the Upland ecosystem. Legits can also be made into wearables, currently used with the interoperable avatars of Ready Player Me.

### Enhancing Manufacturing Capabilities

Certain asset classes in Upland will require SPARKLET to be staked in order to create more advanced versions. For example, car creators and manufacturers will have default capabilities for the cars they are able to manufacture in their factories. Staking SPARKLET for R\&D purposes (metaphorically speaking) will enable them to manufacture better cars (e.g. faster, better handling, better spark/mile utilization, etc.)

### Maximizing UPX Earnings Potential

Players who own properties in Upland enjoy UPX earnings that may be amplified by completing property collections. In the future, new mechanics may be introduced where players need to meet certain property development thresholds (which require the use of SPARKLET to achieve) in order to realize the full potential of these earnings.

### Developer APIs

Upland will introduce the ability for developers to ask their users to spend or stake SPARKLET within their offerings through the Upland Developer APIs.

### Future Utility

SPARKLET will forever remain the key resource for all inanimate objects and tasks that require energy input. As the Upland ecosystem grows and evolves with new features, together with the growth and expansion of Upland’s developer network, SPARKLET will continue to be utilized in new ways that reinforce its value and expand its usefulness.

## Tokenomics and Vesting Schedules

### Token Supply

A total and finite supply of 1,000,000,000 SPARKLET tokens will be issued on Ethereum. These tokens will be mirrored by 1,000,000,000 SPARKLET that will be minted in Upland (EOS). The amount of SPARKLET that is under ownership in Upland (either by player accounts or the broader community through the “Accumulated Spent Spark” account) will always be exactly equal to the amount of SPARKLET that is present in escrow on the Ethereum bridge.

### SPARKLET in Circulation

SPARKLET in circulation is defined as the total amount of liquid SPARKLET owned by Ethereum accounts, plus the total amount of SPARKLET in escrow (both hot and cold) on the Ethereum bridge.

### SPARKLET Accounts and Vesting Schedules

#### Development and Growth

Uplandme, Inc. will have SPARKLET tokens vest to this account, to be used for the purpose of supporting the continued maintenance, operations, and growth of the Upland platform, as well as any other causes it deems as beneficial for the Upland ecosystem. In a potential path for the full decentralization of Upland, the Upland community (represented by a DAO, or other form of system of governance) will obtain authority over this pool.

#### Incentives and Awards

Uplandme, Inc. may use tokens from the Incentives and Awards allocation to encourage engagement and participation among Upland players. These can be activities such as, but not limited to, consecutive sign-in bonuses, level-ups, live events, competitions, missions, and treasure hunts. Uplandme, Inc. may tweak and update the mechanisms and value for incentives and awards at any time to comply with its goal of maintaining a stable overall economy in Upland.

#### Token Grants for Adopting Communities, Games/Platforms, and Brands

Uplandme, Inc. may use tokens from the Ecosystem and Grants allocation to incentivize growth. These may include grants to different communities, games, platforms, brands, and any other partners that use the Upland platform as means to execute or expand their Web3 strategy using Upland’s developer API, metaventure ecosystem, and zero-code NFT capabilities. SPARKLET grants may also be used to incentivize developers to use SPARKLET staking in their products through Upland APIs.

#### Advisors and Supporters

Uplandme, Inc. may use tokens from the Advisors and Supporters allocation to incentivize partners such as entities that provide marketing and market-making services, entities such as centralized exchanges for their listing services, and other advisors and supporters. In the case where vested tokens are not utilized for advisory purposes 12 months after vesting, Upland may roll over the tokens to its treasury allocation.

#### Existing Upland Owners

These are SPARKLET tokens that are already owned by existing players on the Upland platform. At TTE, these tokens will be considered as already uploaded to Upland (see Bridging from Ethereum to Upland). This allocation comprises 7.55% of tokens already owned by players, in addition to 6.45% which will be used to increase the existing owner’s stake relative to the fully diluted token supply. Any unclaimed tokens form this allocation will be forwarded to Incentives & Rewards.

#### Token Launch Campaign

Tokens in this pool will be appropriated to support token launch activities in conjunction with partnering CEXs as well as social airdrop campaigns.

#### Liquidity and Multichain Support

SPARKLET in this account will be used for liquidity purposes by market makers to support the trading of SPARKLET tokens as well as future potential liquidity for multi chain support.

### Token Distribution Summary at TTE

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FmhtQRchpHZNgqefyp1bO%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=d613baa0-c21b-4ec2-b54d-4eda5ea9cabd" alt=""><figcaption><p>Token Distribution at TTE</p></figcaption></figure>

### Vesting Schedule

#### Sustainable Vesting Schedules

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2FJquxUKhyVj2ehiE85MIR%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=bba431e6-8197-48b5-b302-5c5b67858991" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Sustainable Vesting

Anticipated demand for SPARKLET is poised to surge within the Upland community, aligning closely with the increasing number of daily participants in Upland’s activities and the ongoing introduction of further applications for SPARKLET. Due to the dynamic nature of the trajectory curve of this evolving ecosystem, the concept of Sustainable Vesting schedules takes center stage in this white paper.

This pioneering vesting framework introduces a dynamic approach that factors in both the ‘Development and Growth and ‘Incentive and Rewards’ token allocations. In a scenario of zero growth from the time of the TTE, both allocations will vest over a 10-year period. Simultaneously, as specific growth milestones are achieved, the vesting schedule will compress, facilitating the release of a higher volume of tokens each month.

The yardstick for growth will be the average count of daily active wallets within the Upland ecosystem, assessed over monthly intervals; wallet count will exclude SPARKLET token holders on Ethereum. Notably, once a growth milestone is attained, it becomes a permanent accomplishment, impervious to any fluctuations that might temporarily occur beyond the time of achievement.

#### Vesting Milestones

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2F3uT79DY2eFhTL6nHJ6sg%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=60764373-f3fb-4d38-bebc-4c4a8ba29d7a" alt=""><figcaption><p>Vesting Milestones</p></figcaption></figure>

#### Management of Sustainable Vesting Schedules

The authority responsible for the potential contraction of the vesting schedules when growth milestones are hit will be delegated to an independent 3rd party (e.g., a legal trust) that will be a necessary multi-signatory for any change to the vesting schedules.

### Managing Accumulated Spent SPARKLET

SPARKLET that is spent inside of Upland (e.g. for the purpose of creating ‘Legits’ NFTs) will be transferred to and accumulated in a dedicated account. In a period cadence that will be determined in the future, the Upland team will work with the community to form a proposal and recommendation about what should be done with the accumulated spent SPARKLET (e.g. have it burned, transfer to either grants or incentives allocations, or any mix thereof). The proposal will then need to be voted on and approved by the community prior to execution.

### Updating Tokenomic Parameters in the Future

This white paper serves as a foundational document aimed at forging alignment between Upland's operator, Uplandme, Inc., and the present, as well as prospective, participants within the Upland ecosystem. It is acknowledged that as the ecosystem evolves, divergent scenarios might emerge that necessitate adjustments to the tokenomic parameters presented. To effect any modifications to the tokenomic parameters delineated in this white paper, the endorsement of the Upland community through a straightforward majority vote will be mandatory, adhering to Upland's governance directives as detailed here:

<https://www.upland.me/events/upland-home-addresses-the-beginning-of-community-governance>

## Implementation

Utilizing the Everest Ethereum-EOS Bridge

SPARKLET holders will utilize the Everest (an independent 3rd party) Ethereum-EOS bridge to bridge SPARKLET from Ethereum to Upland, and back from Upland to Ethereum

### Bridging from Ethereum to Upland (Uploading SPARKLET)

SPARKLET may be uploaded from Ethereum to Upland (EOS). The following requirements need to be met for an Upland player to upload SPARKLET:

Player has status of Uplander or above (i.e. not a ‘Visitor’ status player).

Player has connected a Metamask wallet to their account.

Player must be in good standing - e.g., can’t be in Upland’s Alcatraz

During the upload process, a player will initiate the upload through the Upland platform with a connected metamask or other wallet. The player will then be responsible for signing the transfer of the SPARKLET the Everest bridge account and paying for Ethereum Gas required for the transaction.

A completed upload action includes the transfer of the uploaded SPARKLET to the bridge and the transfer of the equivalent number of SPARKLET from the mirroring EOS bridge account to the player’s Upland account, all through automated smart contracts.

### Bridging from Upland to Ethereum (Reclaiming SPARKLET)

SPARKLET may be reclaimed from Upland (EOS) back to Ethereum. The following requirements need to be met for an Upland player to reclaim SPARKLET:

Player has the status of Uplander or above (i.e. not a ‘Visitor’ status player).

Player has passed KYC requirements.

Player must be in good standing - e.g., can’t be in Upland’s Alcatraz

Player has connected a Metamask (or other, as per Upland’s integration roadmap) wallet account.

For SPARKLET that was earned or purchased in Upland, the amount of SPARKLET being reclaimed must be less than or equal to the amount of SPARKLET that has been staked in Upland (for a minimum of 720 Spark Hours) in the 3 months previous to the past 30 days at the time of reclaim. This constraint does not apply to any SPARKLET amount that has been uploaded.

Player has sufficient UPX to pay for Gas fees associated with the reclaim.

A completed reclaim action includes (through smart contracts) the transfer of the reclaimed SPARKLET back to the mirroring EOS Bridge account, and the transfer of the equivalent number of SPARKLET from the Ethereum bridge account to the player’s destination Ethereum address.

### Bridging and Operator Account Transfer Cooldown

Within the bridge implementation from EOS to ETH, there will be a 48-hour cooldown for transfer execution. Although the bridge adheres to the strictest security protocols and undergo public audits, this cooldown period serves as a final layer of defense, providing a window during which any potential vulnerability can be discovered and its implications mitigated before transfers are finalized.

## Token Sales and Distribution

Up until now, SPARKLET has only been sold to Uplanders inside of Upland. Following the launch of SPARKLET, there will be 2 methods of sale.

### Through SPARKLET Exchanges

Uplandme, Inc. may conduct programmatic sales through centralized or decentralized exchanges that will not exceed 2% of the global SPARKLET trading volume.

### Inside Upland

Uplandme, Inc. may sell SPARKLET inside of Upland at the current market price as made public through exchanges. Furthermore, Uplandme, Inc. may offer certain amounts of SPARKLET that may carry a discount compared to market price, where discounted tokens are required to be staked for prolonged periods of time before they may be reclaimed back to Ethereum.

### Rewards

Players will have the opportunity to win SPARKLET in mini-games, competitions and other events. Other ways to obtain SPARKLET will be through various incentive schemes such as the currently established daily sign-up bonus.

## Keeping the Upland Economy Protected

Having SPARKLET tradable may bring macroeconomic effects that need to be considered. For example, in a favorable macroeconomic environment, SPARKLET market prices may fluctuate up making it less accessible for Uplanders. For that reason, Uplandme inc maintains the authority to tweak SPARKLET-related economic parameters within Upland in reaction to macroeconomic conditions, such as (but not limited to):

The amount of Spark Hours required for construction of particular structures in Upland

The amount of Spark Hours required for manufacturing of particular Map Items

The amount of SPARKLET required to create Legit NFTs

The amount of Spark Hours required to charge a particular vehicle

With sufficient data available, Uplandme may create a monthly rule according to which it will adjust the parameters. E.g., when the SPARKLET market price has altered by more than 20% in a given month in either direction, these parameters may be adjusted in the subsequent month.

<figure><img src="https://2637853092-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FfTWHbO6fyQvFpg1d5jsy%2Fuploads%2Fq35ABbqtZGQZw5bMTXtB%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=7aa21611-bdaf-4d3e-a2b9-876421eefc70" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Legal, Compliance and Disclaimers

\*\* Please note that any reference to 'SPARK' in this section is intended to denote 1,000 'SPARKLET.'

Upland may be subject to the laws of multiple jurisdictions and exercises best efforts to maintain compliance with all applicable laws. In the United States, there are many questions concerning the applicability of securities regulation to digital assets like Spark and Sparklet for which there has been no guidance from applicable government regulators.

To date, Spark has never been sold to financial investors as any form of investment or declared as such. From its inception in 2021, its primary focus has been to provide utility to players of the Upland platform; see above: “existing utility” and “future utility.” Spark sales to players have been shown as revenue in Upland’s accounting. New Spark acquired by users will have certain restrictions before they can be converted into Sparklet. They first need to be used in the Upland Platform through its underlying utility function. Upland engaged the law firm Zuber Lawler LLP to provide a comprehensive review of past distributions of Spark as well as advice in respect of plans for future sales and distributions of Spark and Sparklet. Zuber Lawler LLP has provided its opinion, which Upland may rely upon, that based on facts certified as true by the principals of Uplandme, Inc. and subject to certain conditions and qualifications, distributions of Spark prior to the date hereof should not require treatment as an offering or sale of securities under the Securities Act of 1933; and that distributions and sales of Spark and Sparklets subsequent to the date hereof, if made in compliance with Upland’s planned sale and distribution methods and messaging, including that the tokens are not financial products or suitable for investment, and are subject to Upland’s management of in-game economics without regard to fiat value of Spark, should likewise not require treatment as an offer or sale of securities.

Upland’s mission is to build the largest digital open economy. Enabling the listing of Sparklet on exchanges is part of Upland’s efforts to advance its path of progressive decentralization. Before the listing, Spark was sold at a fixed price of $460/per one Spark. By allowing users to convert Spark to Sparklet and listing it on exchanges, the price for Sparks and Sparklet will start to fluctuate. With the approval of this white paper through the community vote, the community recognizes this consequence.

The community also recognized that certain changes in the internal use of Spark might be executed by Upland with the objective of keeping the Upland economy stable by allowing Spark to fulfill its core function of being an affordable utility token in the metaverse. Spark tokens, and, by extension, Sparklet tokens, are designed to be used on the Platform and its Ecosystem and not for speculative purposes. Purchasing tokens involves inherent risks, including but not limited to market volatility, regulatory changes, and the potential loss of the entire purchase price. Prospective purchasers should conduct their own research and seek independent legal and financial advice. Upland, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to alter the amount of “Spark Hours” it takes to create Virtual Property on the platform. This may materially affect the valuation of Spark or Sparklet tokens in the marketplace. Upland has no obligation to maintain or otherwise consider the price of the tokens when deciding on Spark Hour requirements.

# About Uplandme, Inc.

Building the Largest Real-World City-Builder

**Our Story**

Imagine a world where the digital and physical converge—a world where every street, building, and piece of land is yours to explore, own, and develop in virtual reality. This visionary concept inspired the creation of Uplandme, Inc. in July 2018. Inspired by the classic game of Monopoly, our founders envisioned a platform where users could engage in real estate trading within a metaverse that mirrors the real world—enhanced with the power of blockchain technology. The goal was to create an open, player-driven economy where digital assets could be truly owned, traded, and monetized, fostering a new era of digital entrepreneurship. And yes, our mascot is a llama and has the name Miles B. Chain.

**Why Upland Stands Out**

What makes Upland unique is its fair and accessible model. There are mobile apps (iOS and Android) plus web browser access. The platform accepts PayPal, Credit Cards, and Crypto, and users can sell their digital goods for fiat currency (US$) - everything that demystifies and simplifies the complicated world of blockchain technology.

Since its beta launch in 2020, Upland has grown exponentially. With 3 million+ registered wallets and over 8million virtual assets minted and sold, it has become one of the most widely adopted Web3 platforms. Its integration of real-world economics with gamified experiences has attracted partnerships with global brands like FIFA and the NFL Players Association. This ecosystem is enriched with diverse activities such as property trading, world-building, car racing, and virtual shops.

**Vision for the Future**

Upland aims to create the digital layer of the real world, fueled by the largest digital open economy. The company continues to pioneer new use cases for gamified interactions and beyond. But Upland is not just a game—it’s a digital universe where creativity thrives, ownership is redefined, and where the community socializes, develops new ideas, and drives the economy, all while having lots of fun.
