Account Setup + KYC

In Upland, time roaming the virtual streets = time well spent! That’s why we’ve made our sign-up process super simple and quick.

Upland can be accessed on mobile devices or from browsers. To start collecting digital properties, all you need is an email address. That’s it! There’s no need to set up a crypto wallet. Upland’s innovative onboarding system automatically creates an EOS account for you once you’ve acquired enough assets in the game and become a full-fledged Uplander.

Alternatively, you could explore as a Guest without doing any account setup. However, the experience is limited to looking around the map. Setting up an account takes minutes, and then you can jump into the fun!

Installation and Account Setup

  1. Install Upland on your iOS or Android device. Or, access Upland in your browser at play.upland.me.

  2. Sign up for an account with an email address.

  3. Follow account verification.

  4. Jump in!

At this point, you can explore Upland as a Visitor.

Securing Your Account with 2FA

Account security is incredibly important for securing your Upland assets due to their real-world value. We highly recommend enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your account.

To enable 2FA:

  1. Got to Settings in the Quick Menu.

  2. Click "Authentication."

  3. There are two types of authentication: SMS (secure), and Google Authentication (very secure)

  4. SMS Authentication enables a security setting in which a passcode is sent to your mobile phone whenever you transact in Upland.

  5. Google Authentication secures your account by listing a refreshing code needed whenever you want to make a transaction.

  6. Scan the given QR code to add Upland as an account on Google Authenticator.

  7. Enter the Upland code to verify your account.

‍Enabling 2FA protects your account from dictionary attacks, where your information on other websites may be exposed. It's highly recommended to secure your account with the best tools available to ensure the safety of your Upland assets.

KYC Identity Verification

KYC promotes fair play by requiring players to prove their identity. KYC is needed for various activities, including:

  • Competitive Treasure Hunts (Exclusive+ Tier)

  • Competitive Spark Treasures

  • Spark login bonus

  • Spark rewards

KYC checks reduce the amount of Spark or UPX rewards doled out to bad actors. This helps level the playing field and strengthens the economy through a healthier distribution of UPX and Spark. ‍

Fortunately, completing a KYC check is a straightforward process that you can initiate in the Upland app. All players need to do is:

  1. Go to the Quick Menu in the app.

  2. Open the Settings menu.

  3. Click on Verify Your Identity and follow the steps.

Note: KYC can take a few days to complete with our partner, Tilia. You will be asked to share personal information in order to verify your identity.
